jibbitz anybody?

18 09 2007

Who would have thought it, me leading the way in fashion! Not only have I got myself a pair of crocs (not the real thing but close enough) but a jibbitz to go in it, thats right a jibbitz. If you would have asked me two days ago what a jibbitz was, I think I would have said something you find in a turkey, but alas I was wrong. To the educated a jibbitz is an accessory that goes on the croc. And what makes things even better is that I seem to be the envy of all my Christian friends!

While on holiday in South Cornwall, Teresa found a Christian fish jibbitz which was kindly brought for my right croc. Since then nobody has been able to find one the same, not even on eBay. Yes there are so called Christian jibbitz out there, but it taks a certain type of jibbitz to be a Christian jibbitz!

If you have got a Christian jibbitz why not share it with the rest of us and include it in a comment below.

Funky bible

17 09 2007

It took some time, in fact 4 weeks to be honest, but my brand new Bible finally arrived in its Amazon carton. I wanted my first Bible to be fashionable, discreet and by all accounts desirable. Back in July I had started to read a Good News Bible that Teresa had borrowed from a church in Swindon whilst on an Alpha course and had never got round to returning it. You could look at that in two lights, one that says tut tut Teresa, fancy not returning a borrowed Bible to a church, or you could say without that Bible I would have had to wait a whole four weeks to read my first few pages! Needless to say the Bible in question will be returning to its rightful owner.

My bible has also been accessorised with Bible tabs which if nothing else makes my life easier in church when Pastor Mike makes reference to scripture. At this stage in my Christian journey I didn’t even know there was a book called Erza, let alone whether it is Old or New Testament and what page range I might find it in.

The first few weeks

12 09 2007

Jesus bannerI made my commitment to God on the 12th August. Funnily enough this coincided with my wedding anniversary. Although this is purely coincidental, it does though make life much easier when trying to remember significant dates in your life! I am sure as I get older I will be taking a leaf out of my father-in-laws book and rely on my children to jog my memory.

My commitment to God was by all accounts a low key affair. While in church on Sunday morning I had an urge to make a commitment and to commit my life to God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Normally Mike the Pastor makes a calling at the end of the service, and would you believe on this occasion he chose not to. I had waited 26 years to get to this point and certainly was not going to wait another week. Although in hind sight the commitment was slightly vague, it did cover the main areas of forgiveness. Just to make sure I re-made the commitment at home with Teresa that evening following extensive online research to what should be said. And the following week in church Pastor Peter kindly had a prayer with me to cement my relationship with God.

By rights that makes me BA and without doubt something to add to my CV.
